About the project

Objectives

The key objectives of the Nano- QIQO project consist in developing the scientific and technological capacity and raising the research profile of Russian-Armenian University, with regard to developing nanomaterials for quantum information and quantum optics. This will be accomplished by networking with two internationally-leading research organizations: University of Hamburg (Germany) and University of Patras (Greece). During the project the partners will carry out a comprehensive set of measures to realize the following objectives:

  • Objective 1: Stimulate the research and technological capacity of the RAU and its Twinning Partners with regard to nanomaterials for quantum information and quantum optics
  • Objective 2: Improve the career prospects of early-stage researchers in the RAU
  • Objective 3: Raise the research profile of the RAU and its staff
  • Objective 4: Enhance the networking activities between the RAU and the Twinning Partners and beyond
  • Objective 5: Strengthen the research management and administration skills in the RAU

Scientific overview

The NanoQIQO project team will focus on three research directions that are crucial for progress and developments in the field of Nano- technology, Quantum Information and Quantum Optics

  • The ambitious aim of the research sub-topic A is to provide, by means of theoretical calculations, new design principles for colloidal nanostructures with tailored properties optimized for quantum information science.
  • The ambitious aim of the research sub-topic B is to provide, by means of theoretical calculations and experimental techniques, new design principles for colloidal nanostructures with tailored properties optimized for quantum optics and quantum information.
  • The ambitious aim of the research sub-topic C is to provide, by means of theoretical calculations new design principles for colloidal nanostructures with tailored properties optimized for single photon sources.
  • Scientific collaborative efforts and knowledge exchange on these three Research Sub-Topics will ensure a boost of research excellence and innovation capacity of the RAU and its Twinning partners in the field of nanomaterials for quantum information and quantum optics:
  • Expected Impacts

The NanoQIQO twinning project will generate the strong impact as for Russian-Armenian University, as well as for University of Hamburg and University of Patras. The spe- cific impacts targeted by the Nano- QIQO project are the following:

  • Impact 1: Increased RAU’s research excellence in the field of nanomaterials for quantum information and quantum optics
  • Impact 2: Enhanced RAU’s reputation, attractiveness and networking channels
  • Impact 3: Improved RAU’s capability to compete successfully for national, EU and internationally competitive research funding
  • We strongly believe that researchers are the most important asset of the RAU. Consequently, the Nano- QIQO project focuses strongly on professional development of RAU established and young researchers to improve their research excellence and technological capacities, on the one hand, and providing them an access to new research avenues in the NanoQIQO research field, which respond to impelling industrial and societal needs, on the other hand.
